Ancestors' Advent Calendar: Dec 13th: Make your Christmas Tree Symmetrical

Victorian Christmas Postcard - Wikimedia Commons

'Nothing heavy or bulky should be hung on the tree. Quite apart from not looking decorative, they will weigh down the branches and spoil the tree's symmetry... Christmas baubles may be of all shapes, but should be kept of a size for the most part, as small ones mixed with big ones tend to give the tree an unsymmetrical look.' Lancashire Evening Post 22nd December 1938.
